Amusan Abiodun Alfred, better known as Mister B or OBA, is a Nigerian record producer, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur and philanthropist.
He co-founded the record label Mister B Records in 2017. Following his exit from DIM Republik, Mister B set up Mister B Records on 22 September 2018.
Background
Mister B, as he is fondly called is from Ota in Ogun State. His mother is a yoruba from Ogun state and his father is also an origin of the Eruwon people in Abeokuta. He was born in Surulere, Lagos State. His family moved to Alakuko, Lagos where Amusan Abiodun was raised.
Early life and education
Amusan’s family moved to Alakuko, Lagos where Mister B was raised. He was educated at the co-educational high school, Suz-Liz Secondary School, Ogun. Mister B found an interest in music early in life and at age 12, began to play mouth organ. He also gained knowledge of traditional and percussion instruments. Mister B enrolled in English Language at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara state.
In 2017, Mister B served in Kogi State where he was retained as a Personal Assitant to David Medayese Jemibewon, a retired Nigerian Army major general who served as military governor of the now defunct Western State (August 1975 – March 1976) during the military regime of General Murtala Muhammed, governor of Oyo State after it had been created from part of the old Western State (March 1976 -July 1978) during the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo,and later as Minister of Police Affairs in the cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo after the return to democracy (1999 to 2000). He was a contender for the Kogi West Senatorial District in Kogi State.
Mister B continued his interest in music, associating with DoubDle Tee (a Music Producer in Kwara State), Don Yeni (C.E.O Dim Republik).
Career
Dim Republik and Mister B Records
In 2016, Mister B was discovered by Don Yenni and signed to Dim Republik. In that year, Mister B recorded the song Obimo and Pain. Word had also been started with Mkido. Around this time, Mister B developed a recognisable introduction, “Its Mister B Again!”
In 2017, Mister B was credited in the production of Gbemileke by Jonny Blake. He also contributed to the production of Laban’s Current Owo a song that was described as one of the best trending song.
Although Mister B did not take credit as a singer, he performed background vocals for artists he produced. These performances include vocals for Labans, Kosere, and produced several songs.
In 2018, Mister B lauched his Record Label after exiting DIM Republik. Following this, he signed Labans and Lyriq X into his Record Label. Labans came through with another Jam that took the street titled Drop . Lyriq X also droped a hit track titled Tolani. All produced by Mister B. In 2020, Labans came through with a brand new single titled Pon Pon featuring Mister B.
